friends of milam county railroad museum
This page is dedicated to the Friends of the Milam County Railroad Museum. These donors are dedicated to the preservation and display of the history of Milam County railroads, the Old Town Cameron and Old Town Rockdale exhibits, and to the enhancement of the model railroad hobby. Through their wonderful expression of support we are able to continue operation of the museum.
We sincerely appreciate and honor the following volunteers and donors:
Davenport, Les - Les has spent many hours making model trees and other scenery products and enhancing the scenery on the Old Town Cameron Layout. He is also heavily involved in managing the restoration of the Old Town Rockdale exhibit.
Davenport, Sue - has donated many hours sewing various banners and curtains for the museum. She has been a Godsend in providing those much needed items.
Edwards, Camille -Volunteer - helps with numerous projects
Edwards, Jeremy - Volunteer - does most of our scenery work; designed and contracts N-scale layouts; donated many hours to the museum
Fischer, Dan - Chief Volunteer - donated many hours and treasure to maintaining the museum and, in particular, the layouts.
Johnson, John - John does it all. Literally, all. He built the OTC model and layout over a 35 year period. Now in his 80's, he is still down at the OTC Museum several times a week adding buildings, improving the scenes, enhancing the railroad operations, and giving ideas to the other volunteers for ways to add to and improve the OTC concept. It is John's baby and he is still putting forth that gold star effort.
Lancaster, Bill and Craig - Both came from Temple several times a month to work on the renovation of the Old Town Rockdale layout. They were the primary restorers of that layout.
Larson, Jamie - Executive Director - donated many hours and treasure to the museum. Jamie oversees the entire operation and coordinates all museum volunteers and activities.
Kelley, Bill - Volunteer - built and donated the wood cases for our three control panels; helps with projects at the museum; donated many hours and treasure
McAtee, Charles: custom built cabinets for the Milano Junction yard area addition to the Old Town Cameron layout.
Morebe, Jon - Volunteer - Helps run the layout; creates videos and photos; repairs train cars, general maintenance
Nonnenmacher, Keith - Drove from Temple several times a month to assist in operating the layout, working on train cars, and assisting with visitors. He has now moved to Pennsylvania and is sorely missed.
Walker, Terry - has spent an enormous amount of time working on various projects at OTC. He hangs pictures, builds cabinet sliding doors, paints, and any other carpentry or painting related tasks that need to be done. He is an example of the unselfish giving that is the hallmark of Friends of the Museum.
